First Call Joins National Call for Passage of Bill S-212

First Call Child and Youth Advocacy Society has joined Campaign 2000: End Child and Family Poverty and organizations across Canada in calling on the federal government to prioritize the passage of Bill S-212, An Act respecting a national strategy for children and youth.

The legislation would require the federal government to work with provinces, territories, Indigenous leaders, families, and children and youth themselves to develop a coordinated national strategy with measurable goals, an action plan, and regular reporting to Parliament.

With child and family poverty continuing to rise across Canada, a national strategy is an important step toward ensuring that children’s rights, well-being, and needs are reflected in government policy and decision-making.

First Call is proud to stand alongside 76 other signatories in urging the federal government and all parties to work together to advance this legislation without delay.
