2026 Municipal Election Toolkit Survey

Help Shape First Call’s 2026 Municipal Election Toolkit!

Thank you for participating in First Call’s 2026 Municipal Election Toolkit Survey.

WHAT: This survey is designed to gather ideas, priorities, questions, and recommendations from our affiliates, supporters, and the broader community as we begin developing our next civic election toolkit for local governments and school boards across British Columbia.

WHY: The results of this survey will factor into our final online municipal elections digital toolkit, available to you in early September 2026.

You can use the toolkit to question or comment to your local candidates for council and the school board as they seek your vote on October 17, 2026.

WHEN: You can take this survey from May 29 to June 29, 2026.

As you complete the survey, we encourage you to consider the issues affecting children, youth, and families across the full developmental continuum — from early childhood through the transition to adolescence and on to adulthood.

We welcome both broad policy ideas and practical, community-based concerns.

We also encourage respondents to consider questions and recommendations through the focus of First Call’s Four Keys to Success which guides our work toward building healthy, equitable communities for all children and youth:

  1. A Strong Commitment to Early Childhood Development
  2. Support in Transitions from Childhood to Youth and Adulthood
  3. Increased Economic Equality
  4. Safe and Caring Communities

While we greatly value all feedback and participation, please note that we may not be able to include every suggestion or question in the final 2026 Municipal Election Toolkit.

HOW: The survey is divided into two main sections:

  1. Municipal / Regional Government Priorities
Please share your top three questions, concerns, or recommendations for municipal councils and regional governments.
  2. School Board / Trustee Priorities
Please share your top three questions, concerns, or recommendations for school boards and trustees.

We will not share your individual response to this survey publicly without your explicit permission. Rather the data collected will be used to inform the production of the toolkit.

Thank you for taking this survey and helping us strengthen advocacy for children, youth, and families across BC!
