Our Letter to BC MPs About the 2025 BC Child Poverty Report Card

In response to the findings of First Call’s 2025 BC Child Poverty Report Card, we sent a letter to Members of Parliament (MPs) representing British Columbia to highlight the critical role federal policy plays in reducing child poverty. While government transfers continue to prevent tens of thousands of children from falling below the poverty line, recent pressures and policy gaps are leaving many families increasingly vulnerable. This letter outlines key federal recommendations—including strengthening income supports, investing in housing and child care—to ensure all children in BC can grow up with dignity, security, and opportunity.
