First Call’s February 2023 submission to the federal government’s pre-budget consultation includes key recommendations from our Child Poverty Report Card including:

• ensure the Canada Child Benefit, in combination with other income measures, raises all families with children above the after tax poverty lines;
• address growing income inequality and eliminate highly regressive and expensive tax loopholes; and
• collaborate with First Nations, Métis and Inuit governments and Indigenous organizations to address the factors leading to child and family poverty.
