The Living Wage for Families Campaign is supporting cleaners at Capilano University with a petition calling on all stakeholders at Capilano U to adopt a Living Wage & Benefits Policy for all direct and contracted workers on campus.
The website quotes: “Poverty is a serious issues affecting families in the Metro Vancouver area and beyond. According to a recent report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, British Columbia has the highest rate of working poor in the country (defined as those who have a median income of just $15,000). Vancouver alone is home to 100,000 low-wage earners struggling to make ends meet. This can’t continue.”
