Employment Standards Act Consultation for Paid Leave for Domestic and Sexual Violence

The BC Government currently has a consultation open to discuss making leave paid for employees fleeing violent relationships or domestic violence and/or who have experienced sexual violence, instead of its currently unpaid model. Organizations and individuals can provide feedback on how future changes could impact you as an employer, an employee, or as a family member and friend. Engagement is open until October 8, 2019.

For additional resources, the Canadian Labour Congress created a domestic violence legislation comparison for provinces and territories across Canada and a findings report of a pan-Canadian survey on domestic violence and the workplace.
