BCCF: Executive functioning and children’s growth and development

Executive functions are skills connected to mental and emotional processes in the brain. They are linked to skills needed for learning, life skills and communication.

They need to be encouraged and won’t develop on their own as some other brain functions do (trauma and poor conditions will affect how they develop in children).
