BC Government Responds to Court Action Filed on Behalf of Youth in Care

This morning the provincial government filed its response to a court action taken by the Public Guardian and Trustee regarding a former social worker accused of financial improprieties related to youth in government care.

First Call is pleased to see that government “admits vicarious liability for the actions of the social worker in question, and agrees that general damages and court-ordered interest for the plaintiff is appropriate.” We believe this response demonstrates accountability and minimizes further trauma for the youth involved.
