BC government ends EI maternity clawback

As of October 1, 2016, the BC government ended the clawback of Employment Insurance child-related benefits like maternity and disability benefits.

This follows a human rights complaint by the Community Legal Assistance Society as well as advocacy by First Call and our coalition members West Coast LEAF, the BC Poverty Reduction Coalition and more.

This is great news for the many families and children (like this family) affected by this policy change.
