Thanks to everyone who was a part of Moving from Talk to Action: Youth in BC!

This year we were pleased to have over 100 attendees at the youth forum, including a large number of youth and adults from sectors including health, education, community services and government.

The forum’s purpose was to bring together youth, agencies that work with youth and other members of the community.

We reviewed new reports and policies affecting youth since the last youth forum held in 2009. Participants were engaged by short presentations by youth and youth-serving organizations on innovative advocacy practices, and facilitators guided participants through an exercise to build an advocacy campaign on an issue close to their heart. An overview of research and policy trends impacting youth was also part of the day. Participants were left with some practical advocacy skills and ideas for taking action in their own communities and organizations.

A big thank you to our co-sponsor the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union.

Read the PowerPoint slides from the presentation on research and policy trends and advocacy 101 as well as a resource list.
